1920s - Morris Olgin, father of Liberty’s Chairman, Jerry Olgin, began collecting scrap and selling to dealers in Erie, PA. 1940 - Olgin Iron and Metal Company, its first retail scrap yard, was opened in Erie, PA 1957 – the business moved to a larger location, changed its name to Penn Iron and Metal Company, Inc. Morris Olgin passed away and Gerald Olgin assumed control of the company. 1969 – Penn Iron & Metal Company, Inc. installed the first automobile shredder east of the Mississippi River at its facility in Erie, PA. |

1982 - Marc Olgin, grandson of the founder, joined the business and established a yard in Youngstown, Ohio. 1989 - Penn Iron & Metal Company, Inc. installed a large automotive shredder in Erie, PA. 1994 - Penn Iron & Metal Company, Inc. merged with Liberty Iron and Metal Company. 1997 - Liberty purchased Hurwitz Brothers, a Buffalo, NY-based scrap company founded in 1892, and Mike Diamond became general manager. |

2000 - Diamond Hurwitz Scrap, LLC. was formed 2000 - Gerald Olgin turned the reigns of the Liberty to Marc Olgin, who became CEO. 2006 - Premier Metals LLC. was formed in Rochester, NY. and long-time local scrap experts, Harold and Michael Bobry, joined Liberty. July 2007 - Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC was formed and entered into a Joint Venture with Scholz A.G. to expand in the North American market. |

January 2008 - Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC acquired Mercer Co. of Sharon, PA. February 2008 - Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC formed LNM Holdings, LLC along with Gary and Michael Clayman, which includes Niles Iron & Metal LLC, Mercer Co. and Interstate Shredding, LLC of Girard, Ohio. |

June 2008 - Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC. entered into a joint venture with Kalischatarra S. de RL de CV in Chihuahua, Mexico. |
