Principals and Officers: Gerald (Jerry) Olgin, Chairman – Mr. Olgin began his career in the scrap metal industry as a youth working along side his father, Morris Olgin, at Olgin Iron & Metal Company, which subsequently was renamed Penn Iron & Metal Company, Inc. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Penn Iron & Metal Company from 1957 to 1994, and was President of Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. from 1994 to 2000, following the merger of Penn Iron & Metal Company with Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. In 2000, he stepped down as President of Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. and turned the company over to his son, Marc. Mr. Olgin resides in Scottsdale, Arizona and is based at the corporate headquarters.
Marc Olgin, Chief Executive Officer – Marc began his career in the scrap metal industry also as a youth working alongside his father, Jerry, at Penn Iron & Metal Company. After graduation from college, Mr. Olgin served as an accountant at a CPA firm for two years prior to rejoining Penn Iron & Metal Company in 1982. Mr. Olgin became President of Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. in 2000 and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC following the joint venture with Scholz A.G. in 2007. Mr. Olgin is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the company and oversees all ferrous marketing and sales. Marc Olgin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1981. Mr. Olgin resides in Phoenix, Arizona and is based at the corporate headquarters. Michael (Mike) Diamond, Chief Operating Officer – Mr. Diamond began his career in the scrap metal industry working for family-owned Westfield Wrecking and Salvage in 1995, where he worked until 1997, when the company was sold. Mr. Diamond joined Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. as general manager of its Buffalo, New York, facility. In 2000, Mike and Joe Diamond became principals of Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc.’s Buffalo facility and he managed all of the non-ferrous metal operations, including purchasing and sales to steel mills and foundries. Mr. Diamond became the Chief Operating Officer of Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC following the joint venture with Scholz A.G. in 2007, and is responsible for managing all non-ferrous metal marketing and sales. Mr. Diamond received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from St. John Fischer College in 1995. Mr. Diamond resides in Buffalo, New York. Joe Diamond, Vice President, Operations – Mr. Diamond co-founded Westfield Wrecking and Salvage in 1957 and operated the company until it was sold in 1997. He joined Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc.’s Buffalo operation in 1997 and became a principal in Diamond Hurwitz Scrap LLC in 2000. Mr. Diamond became Vice President, Operations, of Liberty Iron & Metal Holdings, LLC following the joint venture with Scholz A.G. in 2007. Mr. Diamond resides in Rochester, NY and is based in the Buffalo, NY facility. Steven Olgin, Executive Vice President & General Counsel – Steve joined Liberty in June 2008 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel following careers on Wall Street and in private law practice. From 1994-2008, Steve was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch’s Global Wealth Management division and was responsible for a number of their product areas during his tenure. From 1986-1994, Steve practiced law at Sidley & Austin in Chicago, Illinois in the Corporate and Securities Groups representing Wall Street investment banks, asset management firms and creating investment products. Steve graduated from The American University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1982 and received a Juris Doctor degree in 1986 from The John Marshall Law School. Edmund (Ed) Czemerych, Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Czemerych is a Certified Public Accountant and was a partner at Root, Spitznas & Smiley, Inc., an accounting firm in Erie, PA, for 30 years. His experiences include accounting and auditing services for closely held businesses, as well as tax planning and compliance services for those same business and their owners. During his tenure at this firm, Mr. Czemerych was the independent accountant for Liberty Iron & Metal Company, Inc. from 1981 through July, 2007, when he joined Liberty as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Czemerych received a Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University in 1977. Mr. Czemerych resides in Phoenix, Arizona and is based at the corporate headquarters. |
